As part of the BCS games, the Orange Bowl will be played as its tradition on January 3rd of this coming 2011 year. This time, the Orange Bowl will have two major changes; the game will be broadcasted by ESPN; replacing Fox after four seasons and also it won’t be sponsored by FedEx like in the past 21 years but it will be sponsored by Discover Financial, giving it the name of 2011 Discover Orange Bowl.
This year the teams that matched for 2010 event were Iowa Hawkeyes against Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets; with Iowa claiming victory over Georgia 24-14.
For this 2011 Discover Orange Bowl; Virginia Tech Hokies will be playing against Stanford Cardinal at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens and will be part of the 2010-2011 BCS.
With Virginia Tech and Stanford we can expect a great game. After being defeated by the FCS team James Madison Dukes in September 11 at the JMC, The Virginian’s Won 10 straight games and finished the season with a record of 11-2 and holding the longest streak in the NCAA with seven.
Stanford Cardinal is not so far of the Tech guys, after losing against Oregon Ducks, the team made a huge comeback winning every game and smashing with a 41-0 over Washington Huskies and 38-0 over Oregon Beavers, having a record of 11-1.
This game will mark the end of the season for both teams. Stanford will prove his mettle against the Virginian’s, this is a definitely a MUST see match.
